A baseball-sized sensor can detect chemical threats


TOSSIT, developed at MIT Lincoln Laboratory, is a throwable, baseball-sized sensor that can remotely detect hazardous vapors and aerosols, alerting U.S. military, first responders, and law enforcement to the presence of chemical threats otherwise undetectable by current small sensing systems.
