I install these 11 apps on every new Linux system, and you should, too - here's why

If you're wondering which apps take priority on your new Linux machine, these 11 will help you get the most out of the OS.

VLC is a lightweight, no-frills app with tons of customization and is capable of playing nearly any video file format (audio as well). If you do adopt GIMP as your image editor of choice, I highly recommend you also install the G'MIC plugin, as it can elevate your work with tons of filters. If you want to avoid ads disturbing your music or podcast joy, you can pony up for one of the paid tiers (which also gets you access to lossless quality audio).
