Meta Is Building a $13 Billion AI Data Centre in Alberta, Its First in Canada, in Sturgeon County North of Edmonton
Meta announced July 8 it will build a massive AI data centre in Sturgeon County, a C$13 billion investment and the company's first in Canada. The 1-gigawatt facility will run on its own dedicated natural gas power plant and use roughly as much electricity as 800,000 homes. It confirms the identity of the mystery customer behind a $4.6 billion gas plant announced in the same area last week.
