The Fabled Flatbreads of Uzbekistan (2015)


Stamped with patterns that beautify, identify and aid baking in a clay oven, the flatbreads—non—from the heart of Central Asia make art of one of the world’s most ancient staples. Written and photographed by Eric Hansen The sun was coming up as I followed the scent of wood smoke and freshly baked bread that drifted down a chilly dirt lane in an aging neighborhood on the outskirts of Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan.
