The scariest boot loader code

In 1999, a company I had been working for in the past decommissioned some hardware, including an HP 9000/720 workstation, a somewhat early PA-RISC model. In this company, we were using IBM (RS/6000), Silicon Graphics (Indigo2, Octane) and (mainly) Sun SPARC (20) and UltraSPARC (2, 30) workstations; that particular system had been bought to use a specific piece of software I don't remember the details of, which was only available under HP/UX, HP's own flavour of Unix.
