28 Years Later is coming from Danny Boyle and Alex Garland

While 28 Months Later doesn’t seem to be in the cards, 28 Years Later is on its way.

Filmmakers Alex Garland and Danny Boyle — the writer / director duo who gave us 2002’s 28 Days Later — have been talking about wanting to make a third film in the apocalyptic zombie franchise for years now. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Garland and Boyle are reuniting for 28 Years Later, a new film set in a (presumably) ruined world that’s been ravaged by a strange virus responsible for turning people into rage-filled, fast-running zombie-like beings. Garland and Boyle only served as executive producers on director Juan Carlos Fresnadillo’s 28 Weeks Later from 2007, which picked up the first film’s story and delved into how the rage infection ultimately spread beyond Britain’s borders.
