4.5 million times faster internet? Aston University makes it possible.

This rate is the fastest ever recorded, achieved by utilizing specific new wavelength bands that have not been previously used in fiber optic systems.

In a new groundbreaking development, researchers at Aston University have achieved a internet’s data transmission speed that is a staggering 4.5 million times faster than the average home broadband. This unprecedented rate is the fastest ever recorded, achieved by utilizing specific new wavelength bands that have not been previously used in fiber optic systems. As part of an international collaboration, the team transferred data at a rate of 301 terabits per second, or 301,000,000 megabits per second, using a single, standard optical fiber.
