‘Fortnite’ Players to Receive More Than $126 Million in Refunds From FTC

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) is issuing more refunds to players of Epic Games "Fortnite."

The government agency announced the new round of refunds Wednesday, which brings the total amount that the FTC has issued to consumers related to its now-settled case against Epic regarding its billing practices to nearly $200 million. In December 2022, Epic announced it had agreed to pay $245 million to settle the FTC’s accusations that the gaming company used “deceptive practices to trick players into making unwanted purchases.” The FTC issued 629,344 payments to “Fortnite” players in December 2024, a first round of refunds that totaled more than $72 million.
