'Godfather of AI' shares Nobel Physics Prize


Two scientists share the Nobel Prize for Physics for their work on machine learning.

The Nobel Prize in Physics has been awarded to two scientists, Geoffrey Hinton and John Hopfield, for their work on machine learning. The Academy listed some of the crucial applications of the two scientists’ work, including improving climate modelling, development of solar cells, and analysis of medical images. In artificial intelligence, neural networks are systems that are similar to the human brain in the way they learn and process information.
