‘Pause AI’ protestors are fighting to put AI development on hold


Protesters fighting against AI have begun as plans expand for protests to be held in major cities worldwide, under the name Pause AI.

Leaders emphasize moderate tactics, eschewing disruptive actions like sit-ins, preferring legal and trustworthy methods. On Monday (May 13) a group of 20 or so people took to the street outside the London headquarters of the Department of Science, Innovation and Technology to make a stance. Heading straight into a regional newsroom, after graduating with a BA (Hons) degree in Journalism, Sophie started by working for Reach PLC.
