AI Deepfakes On The Rise Causing Billions In Fraud Losses

Artificial intelligence has so much to offer to society, but the darker side of AI poses significant risks. Deepfake fraud is expected to more than triple by 2027.

As these hyper-realistic digital fabrications become more sophisticated, scammers are using the world’s richest man (Musk) as their favorite deepfake, according to reports by AI firm Sensity. Recent CBS reporting highlights the staggering implications: fraud losses tied to AI deepfakes are predicted to more than triple to $40 billion in the next three years. Deepfakes utilize advanced AI techniques, like deep learning and generative adversarial networks (GANs), to produce fake videos, audio, or images that are almost indistinguishable from real content.
