The current generation of consumer facing AI tools, known as Large Language Models (LLMs), continue to proliferate through society, used by folks from every stage of life, from office workers to school children. While it's true that LLMs are unable to reason or predict the future they are able to extract trends from the information they are trained on and they are able to output everything from bullet lists to essays to data that is easily parsed by computer programs. Suddenly a middle schooler could type "write a three page book report about moby dick" into a prompt and paste the result into a Google Doc, print it out, and turn it in.
