AI will make money sooner than you’d think, says Cohere CEO Aidan Gomez

Computing power is expensive, especially in AI, but you’ll hear Aidan explain that the way Cohere is structured gives his company an advantage because it doesn’t have to spend quite as much money to build its models. But Aidan points out that his enterprise customers are both risk averse and price sensitive: they want Cohere to be operating in a competitive landscape because they can then secure better deals instead of being locked into a single provider. The concerns around scalability hadn’t yet emerged, but we knew for enterprises, which are very cost-sensitive entities, very economically driven, if they can’t make the numbers work in terms of return on investment, they don’t adopt it.
