AI-assisted coding will change software engineering: hard truths

A tweet that recently caught my eye perfectly captures what I've been observing in the field: Non-engineers using AI for coding find themselves hitting a frustrating wall. There's a deeper issue here: The very thing that makes AI coding tools accessible to non-engineers, their ability to handle complexity on your behalf, can actually impede learning. Throughout the history of technology, new innovations promised the ability for business folks to collapse or bypass the “tech” part, and get straight to working software from their high-level prompts.
