Amazon adds Matter Casting to its smart displays and TVs

Amazon has added support for Matter Casting, the media-casting spec of the Matter smart home standard, to some of its devices.

“Customers can begin watching a movie or browse for their next favorite show from Prime Video on their phone, and cast it to their compatible Fire TV device or Echo Show 15,” Amazon writes in a post published on its official blog. Matter Casting is an open local networking protocol that doesn’t require a specific hardware stack. It allows control of a television’s core functions like volume adjustment, changing the channel and switching between HDMI ports.
