And every administration since — up to, but n ot including Biden — has continued to nerf antitrust, making it progressively weaker, until every industry — not just tech — is dominated by a tiny handful of companies: pharma, health insurance, appliances, athletic shoes, books, booze, drug stores, office supplies, eyeglasses, vitamin C, bottle caps, airlines, railroads, rental cars, mattresses, Champagne, candy and professional wrestling. Google isn’t Willy Wonka’s magic idea factory, they’re Rich Uncle Pennybags, spending other peoples’ money to buy the products they themselves are too ossified and lumbering to create. Remember 2022, when Facebook gained slightly fewer users in the US than they’d promised and Wall Street staged a mass sell-off, knocking a quarter- trillion dollars off the market cap, the largest one-day drop in a company’s value in human history?
