Apple expected to receive ‘modest’ fine from EU for its alleged DMA shortcomings

Apple is reportedly about to be hit with a new fine from the EU for its alleged violation of the DMA (Digital Markets Act).

Apple and Meta Platforms are set to face modest fines for allegedly breaching landmark rules aimed at reining in their power, people with direct knowledge of the matter said on Monday. Just a couple weeks ago, Spotify CEO Daniel Ek advocated strongly for the EU bringing decisive judgment against Apple for what he called its “farce” of compliance. If a new fine does get imposed on Apple this month, it will represent the first opportunity to see if Trump’s administration will handle EU action differently than Biden’s did.
