Apple might finally let you freely customize Home Screen icons on iPhone

A change is coming with iOS 18.

Yes, you can move the icons and folders around, but that's about it; it's far from the level of customization you get on Android phones, or even that same iPhone's Lock Screen. You won't get complete freedom; app and folder icons will remain locked to the invisible grid, just like they are now. Bloomberg's Mark Gurman recently mentioned that Apple is planning to introduce a "more customizable" Lock Screen, too, though he didn't share any additional details.
