Apple has patched a zero-day vulnerability affecting iPhones and iPads, which allowed attackers to disable USB Restricted Mode on locked devices. The vulnerability was discovered by Bill Marczak of The Citizen Lab at the University of Toronto’s Munk School, a research group known for investigating cyber threats against high-risk individuals. Last month, Apple addressed CVE-2025-24085, a CoreMedia vulnerability that allowed privilege escalation on iPhones running older iOS versions.
