The vulnerability was discovered by Bill Marczak of The Citizen Lab at the University of Toronto’s Munk School, a research group known for investigating cyber threats against high-risk individuals. Last month, Apple addressed CVE-2025-24085, a CoreMedia vulnerability that allowed privilege escalation on iPhones running older iOS versions.
