Earlier this summer, Apple joined Threads in a very limited capacity after two years of not having an official presence on Meta’s Twitter/X clone. Xiaohongshu (called RedNote in English) is more than a decade old, but it garnered global attention in January while TikTok was temporarily banned in the US. The video sharing service provided relief for TikTok refugees when the fate of the other China-made social media platform was up in the air.
