Apple reportedly cancels plans for iPhone subscription service
The service would reportedly have customers rent devices instead of buying them.
First rumoured in 2022, the tech giant's hardware subscription would have given customers the option to pay a regular monthly fee to essentially rent their iPhone. This iPhone subscription service had reportedly been planned for launch the same year it was leaked, but was delayed by issues such as software problems and legal concerns. In contrast, Apple's previously planned service sounded more akin to renting a device, with customers presumably required to return their iPhone if they cancelled their subscription.
