Apple to manufacture iPhone, Watch cover glass in Kentucky


In a major move, Apple announced Wednesday it is partnering with Corning to manufacture all of its iPhone and Apple Watch cover glass in Kentucky.

“Corning is a storied American company, and we’re thrilled to work together to build the largest and most advanced production line ever created for smartphone glass,” said Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO, in a news release. Additionally, the two companies will open an Apple-Corning innovation center at the plant.This new plant will be used to develop and engineer "advanced and next-generation manufacturing platforms for Apple’s future generations of products. "“Corning is a storied American company, and we’re thrilled to work together to build the largest and most advanced production line ever created for smartphone glass,” said Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO, in a news release.
