Apple Vision Pro Battery Pack Wide Lightning Connector: Everything You Need To Know

Using a SIM ejector tool, Inverse discovered the Apple Vision Pro's battery pack has a hidden wide Lightning connector that the world has never seen before. What is the wide Lightning plug called? What's it for? Why is it Lightning back? How mad is the EU? We have some answers.

Yesterday, when I tweeted a photo of the Apple Vision Pro’s hidden Lightning connector inside of its battery pack, I had no idea it would go viral. Was Apple planning to move its devices to this “fat” or “wide” Lightning plug, but instead was forced by the European Union to switch to USB-C? A source familiar with the matter has confirmed to Inverse that the EU’s legislation for USB-C on devices had nothing to with the Vision Pro’s exclusive launch in the U.S. on February 2.
