Apple's smart glasses project may use the same chips from the Watch

Apple is developing a chip for smart glasses, according to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, and it's reportedly based on the chip used for the Apple Watch.

Gurman says Apple is looking to start mass producing the chips for the product sometime in 2027, so the company is expecting its development to take two more years at the very least. Based on that timeline, Meta will likely be able to release its first true pair of augmented reality glasses first: The company is already working on one and is hoping to launch it in 2027. If the device is going to be a true competitor to Meta's Ray-Ban spectacles, then it will be able to capture photos and videos, will have speakers or earphones and will be able perform tasks with voice commands.
