In a step towards treating and managing dental diseases, researchers have developed an artificial tongue capable of detecting and differentiating between different types of dental bacteria. When exposed to a sample containing different bacteria, each sensor within the array responds uniquely. Scientists have designed a chemical sensor array, or an artificial tongue, that distinguishes dental bacteria and can inactivate them.
