The material successfully helped recover 70 percent of zinc from metal waste and can also be reused multiple times.
Scientists at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences (UNRLS), Austria, have turned to spent brewer’s yeast to recycle metallic waste and separate them from each other. Brewer’s yeast is the waste generated after beer brewing is complete and has conventionally been used to make marmite. When used for recycling metals, the yeast can be reused multiple times, making the process even more eco-friendly.
