Over time, we tested combinations of different drive models to ensure there was no impact on throughput and performance. Today we divide that same blob across 20 servers, i.e. a Backblaze Vault, dramatically improving the durability of the data. How we choose which servers and Vaults to migrate will be covered in a future post, but for now we’ll just say that drive failure isn’t everything.
