Balatro and others re-rated by PEGI after successful appeal, prompting a rule revision
The popular deckbuilding game has won its most important hand yet with a victory over the European ratings board, which objected to its content.
Essentially, the PEGI board automatically rates any game with gambling mechanics — real or perceived — as only for adults as a result of a rule instituted in 2020. Its fictional gambling mechanics put it out of the reach of the majority of the audience, but has been rectified today with PEGI’s new ruling. Balatro also arrives today on Xbox with new crossover decks, including Fallout, Assassin’s Creed, Critical Role, and more.
