Jordan DeMay, a 17-year-old who died by suicide in 2022, is one of a growing number of teens targeted by financial sextortion. His mother hopes the new law will help other parents.

Buta said the bill, along with others under consideration by Congress like the Kids Online Safety Act, could have helped save her son before it was too late.
