As the Blender HDR support on Linux has been tested with a limited number of configurations so far, it's currently being treated as experimental. In my testing of the latest Blender 5.0 alpha build on Ubuntu Linux with Samsung Odyssey OLED G8 G81SF and ASUS ROG Swift OLED PG27UCDM displays, this experimental feature was working out fine in my basic tests.
