Bowser’s pricing remarks Ninten-don’t offset Switch 2 sticker shock


Doug Bowser said that Nintendo is practicing "variable pricing" on Switch 2 titles. He does realize that's not actually reassuring, right?

In an interview with The Washington Post, Nintendo of America president Doug Bowser said that this is part of the company’s “variable pricing” approach to games. After all, the Xbox Series X and the PlayStation 5 with disc drive both cost $500 at launch and those consoles are practically geriatric at this point. Even if we take the most generous interpretation of his words to mean that they charged a princely sum for Mario Kart World because it has replayability; deep, rich gameplay; and a lengthy development cycle, it’s still not exactly reassuring.
