Human immunodeficiency virus, or HIV, is a virus that attacks the body’s immune system and it can lead to acquired immunodeficiency syndrome ( AIDS). Currently, there is no cure for HIV infection, but with access to prevention, diagnosis, and treatment, it has become a controllable chronic condition. According to WHO data, in 2022, more than 600,000 people died from HIV-related causes and 1.3 million people got infected.
