Broadcom’s VMware says Siemens pirated “thousands” of copies of its software

VMware claims Siemens showed it a list of the VMware products it’s using unlicensed.

The lawsuit also reads: “In the context of attempting to exercise the option... to purchase a one-year renewal of Support Services for certain eligible licensed products for the year following the expiration of the ELA in September 2024, Siemens AG revealed that it had downloaded, copied, distributed, and deployed thousands of copies of VMware products for which it had never purchased a license." Ars Technica reached out to both firms for comment but didn't hear back in time for publication.
