The render-to-gif feature is my favorite both because it took a ton of work to implement, so it was really satisfying when I finally cracked it at 7 in the morning, and because it makes it very easy to share VarLife constructs with others. Due to the "electron"-based nature of our computer, addition and subtraction are significantly easier to implement when the data is transmitted in serial little-endian (least-significant bit first) form. We built a low level language with similar syntax to Python, including a simple type system, subroutines supporting recursion and inline operators.
