ByteDance, TikTok shelled out $7 million on lobbying and ads to combat potential U.S. ban


The disclosures show how TikTok officials lobbied Congress and President Joe Biden's executive office last quarter.

TikTok and its China-based parent company ByteDance combined to spend over $7 million so far this year to try and stop Congress from passing legislation that could ban the social media app in the United States. Veteran lobbyist David Urban was paid $80,000 last quarter by ByteDance to try to influence Congress on their March bill targeting the technology company, according to a disclosure report.
