California Assembly speaker, more Democratic state lawmakers ditch X


California Assembly Speaker Robert Rivas on Thursday announced he and dozens of other Democratic assemblymembers plan to leave X, the platform formerly known as Twitter.

The last time Rivas made himself available to reporters at the Capitol was Jan. 9, after his chamber gaveled into its special legislative session to prepare for legal battles with President Trump as the Los Angeles wildfires were raging. For example, as outrage mounted over a bill that some worried would change self-defense laws in California, Los Angeles Assemblyman Rick Zbur posted on his personal X account to clarify his intention with the proposal.
