This is a web resource that allows you to put in your location, a time frame, and how far you're willing to drive, and it will spit out results of nearby transits. I have actually captured transits with a 350mm lens where I was still able to resolve the solar panels, so don't let your lack of equipment necessarily deter you! (Note- having a memory card with the fastest write speed is paramount here) Have a clock with seconds counting visible.
