The coupling of events (according to a sampling rate) is not done for computational efficiency, but it is a quality of the system. If we lower the temperature of a chaotic system such that each atom only interacts with one other element, have we not achieved the same thing, just without identity? And this divide could be metaphorically interpreted as a grammar which allows causal associations: as a way to understand the changing relationship between the inside and the outside.
