China passenger NEV (new energy vehicles) market share at retail by year: August 2021 ~17%, August 2022 ~29%, August 2023 ~38%, August 2024 ~54%


China's PHEV retail sales hit a record high for the third consecutive month, while BEV retail sales grew again, ending two consecutive months of sequential declines.

China's passenger NEVs sold a record 1,027,000 units at retail in August, the first time in history they have exceeded 1 million, according to data released today by the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA). In July, retail sales of BEVs in China were 482,000 units, 1.6 percent lower than in June and the second consecutive month of sequential decline.
