Cycling's Silent Epidemic: Labial swelling and pain in women


Too many women quit cycling because of labial swelling and pain. Here’s why it happens, what they can do about it, and how to prevent it in the first place.

Elite track and road racer Haley Nielsen, 36, from San Francisco, had a primary care physician who was a cyclist herself; this doctor told her that her persistent cysts and labial swelling were because she wasn’t changing out of her chamois quickly enough.
