Donald Trump joins TikTok despite previously wanting ban

The former president joins the current US leader in using the platform despite backing concerns.

President Joe Biden is also using the platform to campaign for re-election in November, but he has only picked up 340,000 followers - ten times fewer than that of his rival. Karoline Leavitt, a spokesperson for the Trump campaign, told NBC News the former president had "already gained significant ground with young voters and this is another way to reach them". Mr Trump acknowledged in an interview with CNBC in March that the app did pose a national security risk, but argued a ban would strengthen Facebook as "an enemy of the people along with a lot of the media".
