Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero review - arena fighters don't get much better than this

Dragon Ball Sparking! Zero is everything Dragon Ball fans will have wanted, but it's also just a blast for those unbothered by its extensive fan-service.

Coming home from school and mashing buttons in split-screen multiplayer was the norm for me, and my friends and I unanimously agreed that Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi was the cream of the arena fighter crop. Image credit: Eurogamer / Bandai Namco Throwing out ranged ki blasts or charged melee attacks that cover huge distances is a simple button press away, but doing so without caution leaves you open to a breadth of available counterattacks. Control schemes readily available, current objectives marked on screen, motion blur on/off toggle, depth of field settings, contrast and brightness options, independent sliders for sound effects and dialogue, replayable tutorials, fully subtitled, language can be changed, full key and button remapping, controller support, left hand mode, difficulty settings (normal and easy), and assist mode that simplifies and/or automatically performs inputs such as combos and blocking.
