EA cuts 670 roles, cancels Respawn Star Wars FPS and more
Electronic Arts is cutting 5% of its staff and shifting focus to its owned IP, sunsetting new licensed games like Respawn's Star Wars FPS.
Shortly after CEO Andrew Wilson announced the layoffs, Laura Miele, president at EA Entertainment sent a memo to staff confirming the project would be shuttered. “It’s always hard to walk away from a project, and this decision is not a reflection of the team’s talent, tenacity, or passion they have for the game,” said Miele’s note. We’re thrilled to open our call for speakers to our flagship event, GamesBeat Summit 2024 hosted in Los Angeles, where we will explore the theme of “Resilience and Adaption”.
