So far in life, I haven’t needed be a “mesh guy.” A well chosen and carefully placed Wi-Fi router has worked fine in our modest abodes, but one particular situation has resisted simple solutions until Eero put out a device in November seemingly made exactly for the purpose. But the great thing was, even here, beyond reliable range for my phone’s Wi-Fi signal, I was able to scan the barcode on the bottom of the device, sync over Bluetooth, and connect it to the house network within a few minutes of plugging it in. But consider the alternatives: Running a cable would have meant at least a couple hundred bucks to rent the trench-cutting equipment (I’m not doing 300 feet with a flat spade) plus the network hardware, not to mention the work, and it would have ended up pretty DIY.
