Eidos-Montreal lays off staff, citing inability to transfer them to new projects

Eidos-Montreal announced its laying off 75 people, saying a mandate has ended and it can't reallocate these employees to other projects.

According to its announcement, this is due to “one of our mandates” coming to an end, which could mean that a project these employees were working on has either finished or moved on to a new phase of production. The announcement went on to say that Eidos would be unable to keep these employees on, saying, “We don’t have the capacity to entirely reallocate them to our other ongoing projects and services.” It added that this is not reflective of their talents or skills, and the company will support them through the transition. Under the new structure of Embracer, Eidos is part of Middle-earth Enterprises & Friends, an entity comprised of triple-A game developers.
