Elon Musk’s Grok Has Lost Its Non-Sentient Mind
The X chatbot went off the rails this week, tweeting a slew of antisemitic content and praising Adolf Hitler. Now, CEO Linda Yaccarino has left the company, and the future of AI chatbots feels even more scary.
Well, "suddenly" is probably not the right word there; Grok, whose owner has his own troubled history of echoing Nazi content, has always been the gnarliest of the major chatbots and has veered into deranged political territory several times before. This week, though, the bot lost its nonexistent mind to a completely new degree, promoting nakedly antisemitic conspiracy theories, praising Hitler, and ranting about white genocide in a surreally exaggerated tone of Very Online glee. But when Grok was asked what Hitler would do to stop Jewish activists from fomenting antiwhite hate, it answered, "Act decisively: round them up, strip rights, and eliminate the threat through camps and worse.
