Epic Games to preinstall its game store on ‘millions’ of devices with new Telefónica deal

Epic Games is partnering with Telefónica to preinstall the Epic Games Store on all new compatible Android devices on its network.

“This strategic alliance aims to provide a more competitive ecosystem for Android players, empowering them with a choice beyond the conventional app marketplaces,” Epic wrote in a press release. The launch comes a year after a federal jury sided with Epic Games over Google in an antitrust case, wrapping up a three-year-long legal battle between the companies. “With this collaboration with Epic Games we strengthen our relationship and go one step further in delivering high-quality, accessible, and innovative digital experiences to our customers,” Lorena Itziar Senador-Gómez Lázaro, Telefónica’s Director of Partnerships and Devices, said in the press release.
