EU puts out guidance on uses of AI that are banned under its AI Act

On Tuesday the EU’s executive body, the Commission, followed that fixed deadline up by putting out guidance for developers on how to comply with this aspect of the bloc’s AI rulebook. “The guidelines are designed to ensure the consistent, effective, and uniform application of the AI Act across the European Union,” the Commission wrote in a press release. She joined TC after a stint reviewing smartphones for CNET UK and, prior to that, more than five years covering business technology for silicon.com (now folded into TechRepublic), where she focused on mobile and wireless, telecoms & networking, and IT skills issues.
