Expert debunks solar flare theory behind mass mobile signal outage
A solar flare was reported at around midnight, leading some to suggest that this could be the cause of the mass mobile signal outage, but an expert has said this is unlikely
Space weather guru Brooks Garner told Fox News that this outage, which mainly hit AT&T users but also other networks, was probably caused by a problem with the SIM card database registry. Some people, including KSAT 12 weatherman Justin Home, thought the sun might be involved after NASA said a solar flare happened around midnight. The idea that a solar flare caused the outage has been largely ruled out by a space weather expert (Image: Getty Images/Science Photo Library RF)
