The Federal Aviation Administration has started testing the use of SpaceX Starlink satellite internet terminals in the national airspace system, nearly two years after Verizon was awarded a $2 billion contract to perform similar work. The news, first reported by Bloomberg, comes just a few weeks after new U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy said Musk and his so-called “Department of Government Efficiency” were going to help “upgrade” the air traffic control system. He previously worked at The Verge, where he also covered consumer technology, hosted many short- and long-form videos, performed product and editorial photography, and once nearly passed out in a Red Bull Air Race plane.
